Raipur, Chhattisgarh: Sometimes, miracles in medical science go beyond expectations. A similar moment of wonder unfolded at ILS Hospital Raipur, where a mother gave birth to three pre-term (Premature) babies at just 32 weeks of pregnancy. Each baby weighed only 1.3 to 1.5 kilograms at birth.
This challenging delivery and the journey that followed became a true testament to a mother’s courage and the dedication of the advanced NICU team at ILS Hospital Raipur. The remarkable outcome was made possible through the joint efforts of our expert consultants - Dr. Manisha Sharma (MBBS, DGO, DNB - Obstetrics & Gynaecology, DMAS, FCCS, CIMP, FMAS) and Dr. Rakesh Singh (MBBS, MD, Clinical Fellowship - Neonatology).
The delivery was performed through an emergency C-section (LSCS) due to severe complications in pregnancy, including PPROM and Oligohydramnios. Immediately after birth, all three babies experienced respiratory distress and were promptly placed on CPAP support.
* Triplet A was born with congenital challenges like hydrocephalus and club-foot, yet displayed incredible resilience.
* Triplet B battled early infection and breathing difficulties but gradually gained strength and weight.
* Triplet C responded swiftly to medication and continuous care, showing remarkable recovery.
For the next 25 days, the NICU team worked round the clock, providing IV antibiotics, phototherapy, feeding support, and constant medical supervision. The mother also played an active role through Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and breastfeeding, offering her babies the greatest healing power - a mother’s warmth and love.
Finally, when all three babies were discharged in good health, each weighing around 2 kilograms, it became a moment of immense pride and joy for the entire hospital. It was not just a story of medical success, but a celebration of life, courage, and a mother’s unconditional love.
